Summers here and so are navel piercings! To kick off summer I wanted to talk about floating navels for a second. A lot of people come into the shop wanting to get their navel done, but not a lot of people know that there are different types of navel piercings for different types of anatomy. Here is a prime example of a floating navel that I did. This person didn’t have the anatomy for a traditional navel piercing because they have what’s called a collapsing navel where it folds in the middle when they sit. But they did have the perfect anatomy for a floating navel! With these, instead of having a gem on the bottom there’s either a ball or a disk. That way when they sit or move their navel is able to fold with their body without pushing on the jewelry and causing irritation. I do a TON of navels at the shop and I’d say a majority of them end up being floating like this one. So if you’re thinking about getting a navel piercing done, but don’t know if it’ll work for you, stop by the shop and let one of us check it out! ...
